Preview
The Sacramento Athletics return home to Sutter Health Park on Monday, July 27, with Jack Perkins scheduled to start against the Boston Red Sox and their right-hander Payton Tolle. First pitch is set for 9:40 PM ET, with the game airing locally on NBCSCA and on radio via Talk 650 KSTE and A's Cast. This is a regular-season home contest that gives Sacramento a chance to build on what the club has been working toward all year on their own turf in front of the home crowd.
Pitching Matchup: Jack Perkins vs. Payton Tolle
Jack Perkins gets the ball for the Athletics. Perkins has been part of Sacramento's rotation as the club looks for consistent arms to anchor its staff, and a strong outing here against a Boston lineup that travels well would be a meaningful statement. For the Red Sox, Payton Tolle draws the start. Both pitchers are in the conversation as young arms with something to prove, making this a matchup worth watching from pitch one.
Neither starter has publicly available ERA or win-loss figures attached to this start, so the real measure will come from what they show on the mound Monday night. Execution in the strike zone and limiting hard contact will be the baseline for judging each of them.

Keys to Watch for Sacramento
Jacob Wilson Setting the Table
Wilson leads off and his ability to work at-bats and get on base shapes the entire top of the order. When Wilson is on base, the lineup has a chance to do real damage before Boston's pitching can settle in.
Soderstrom and Heim Delivering in the Middle
Batting second and third respectively, Tyler Soderstrom and Jonah Heim are positioned to do significant work if Wilson reaches. Heim in particular provides a veteran presence behind the plate and at the dish that Boston will need to account for.
Tommy White and the Power Threat
Hitting fifth at third base, Tommy White represents the kind of pop in the lineup that can flip a game. If Colby Thomas gets on ahead of him, White has the opportunity to make Tolle pay in the middle innings.
Lawrence Butler Finishing the Order
Butler bats ninth, but that is not a throwaway spot. His presence keeps the lineup cycling and gives Sacramento another athletic threat before the order turns back to Wilson.
Prediction
Home field matters at Sutter Health Park, and the Athletics lineup has enough balance from top to bottom to put pressure on a road starter in Tolle who is still establishing himself at this level. If Perkins can give Sacramento five or six quality innings and limit the damage, the A's have the lineup depth to manufacture enough runs. Sacramento wins a close one, 4-2.
